No. 5 Crenellations versus turrets

Once upon a time the little girl, who lived in the little town, would sometimes walk up to the castle in the town. The castle sat at the very top of a steep hill. She loved to see all the houses that were huddled on the hill as close as they could be to the castle at the top, jostling for position.

The castle itself was as good as new and had all it’s ramparts and parapets and a great sturdy gate but for the little girl there were a distinct lack of turrets, plenty of crenellations but no turrets…….and there should always be turrets. There can never be too many turrets, preferably ones that each had a long, colourful banner whipping in the breeze like the banners she had seen in pictures of medieval knights and their castles. Their castles never were short of turrets.
