No.10 Energy Of The Past
The little girl lived in a little town. In that town there were lots of old buildings, very old buildings, and some absolutely ancient buildings. (There was even an ancient tree….but that’s a story for another time) Living in, around, and using these buildings brought the little girl closer to history.
She gave much thought to the past and the people who had created the buildings, roads, and walls. In their present they had put into stone what would become their history. Set in stone and capable of lasting forever. That foresight created a backdrop for the little girl, and everyone else living in the town, to live in, around, and use.
The little girl gave it much thought. Did those people know that these building would still be here? They must have because these same people had designed parks and gardens that are only mature a century later. Planted with trees that they would never see full grown, never see how tall and majestic those trees would become, but they planted them anyway for the future to enjoy.
The little girl felt close to those people with their selfless acts, the trees they planted, the beautiful buildings they created, and she admired their foresight and generous spirit. She felt she was never truly alone because she felt connected to them. Every time she opened a door that others had opened, walked on cobbled stones that others had walked on, ran up the stairs that others had run up, she was connected. When she sat on her front steps and pondered how many feet had it taken over the years to wear down the stone steps? She was connected and she felt the energy of the past. Was their echo captured in the stonework? She felt the energy and somehow knew that to hear the echo she just had to listen.
Some might say it was her imagination. Some might say it was ghosts. She knew what she heard…..but that’s a story for another time.
