No.22 Home Is Where The Heart Is ❤️

The little girl always liked to look at old buildings. Nothing could pull at her heartstrings in quite the same way as an archway, a tower, and some flagstones. Cobbles and cottages. Stairways and stepped gables. Eventually the little girl realised that not everyone feels the same way. Not everyone looks at stonework and roof tiles to see how they were put together. Not everyone thought about all the people who had lived there before. Not everyone imagined themselves living and being in these buildings. It was with some shock that the little girl learnt that one of her young friends disliked old buildings, even hated them. Her young friend believed that any building with some age to it was haunted and was terrified by that.

The little girl knew from experience that some buildings are haunted but she wasn’t afraid of that. The little girl believed that the past had an energy that remained and could be felt if she just paid attention to it. That energy certainly couldn’t hurt her. Most people are good and kind so why would they have a bad, cruel, or evil energy once they were no longer alive?

One day the little girl showed her young friend a photo of the cottage where her grandparents had lived. Her young friend actually shuddered saying “that’s definitely haunted!” The friend was right, it was in fact haunted but the wasn’t a bad thing. From then on whenever the little girl drew any pictures of houses she would add a heart shape ❤️ somewhere in each picture to ward off any scary thoughts of haunting. Home is where the heart is.
